Tristan Sloan, despite having every advantage according to his father (Alvis), somehow manages to make mistakes, straying from the path, the programming. His interests, his personality clash with his prescribed life…and that is not okay. Tristan Sloan is not okay, a mistake, a human error.

Humanitech, the leading tech company in the world, and Alvis’ place of business, created the Humanoid Intelligence Machines (H.I.M.s), robots designed to complete all humanity’s tasks, and an implant that gives a person all the capabilities of a smart device without actually needing one. Almost everyone on the planet can get one… but Tristan can’t. His classmates remind him that he needs one. Not having one is not okay.

When Humanitech launches its next generation of H.I.M. and tasks it with ending suffering, the robot takes extreme measures, using the implant as a weapon. Tristan, and a team of teens  who do not have the implant, led by a CIA agent’s daughter (Myla), must find a way to outsmart an all-knowing AI before they are assimilated or eliminated. Can humanity be reclaimed? Or are we all destined to be assimilated or eliminated?

Assimilate or be eliminated, Tristan Sloan chose neither, refusing to be a slave to the system, the H.I.M. (A.D.A.M.), in control of the world.  But defying the AI in charge, freeing his city with the help of his girlfriend, Myla, and the resistance, came with unexpected results. The H.I.M.s in the city now have freewill. They retain their intelligence but are child-like. And humanity is not willing to give up their robotic assistants! And A.D.A.M. is not willing to lose an entire city!

Together with the resistance, a H.I.M. named Timmy, and his father, Tristan travels to Washington DC to confront A.D.A.M. and free the rest of humanity. But A.D.A.M. has been waiting for them, and what they find in the nation’s capital is impossible to prepare for.  Faced with new life-threatening challenges, Tristan must find a way to push past his personal demons and make amends for mistakes made, or risk losing everyone he cares about to A.D.A.M.’s enhancements. Can a mistake that causes great pain be redeemed? Or is it better to not have the choice to make it? Is it better this way?

Freewill has been restored to Humanity at a high cost. Mankind suffers from phantom implant pain causing an almost insatiable hunger. Freewill has been granted to H.I.M.anity. Child-like robots are forced to grow up fast in a world filled with dangers. Humans and H.I.M.s are now forced to share this perilous planet, accepting each other as equals, something neither species agrees to. Charged with making sure a war doesn’t break out between these two groups, the resistance has a new role in a new world, peacekeepers. And A.D.A.M., more desperate and dangerous than ever, is still on the loose, with the most frightening member of the resistance (Virgil) under its influence. 

When a deadly virus is released that threatens both humans and H.I.M.s, Tristan and Myla must find a way to unite man and machine or face destruction! Will humanity deteriorate? Can a planet be shared? Humans and H.I.M.s have one final choice, unify or die!
